Wheat trucks being forcibly unloaded at official centres, allege millers.

LAHORE -- Flour millers have alleged that the Punjab government has backed out of its promise to allow them to purchase wheat from the market as their consignments are being forcibly unloaded at official procurement centres.

Former chairman of the Flour Millers Association, Habibur Rehman Leghari, claimed here on Wednesday that at least 300 trucks laden with wheat were impounded and unloaded at official centres during the day in the province.

Sharing audio clips with the media in which two people introducing themselves as assistant commissioner and tehsildar were asking a trader to unload the wheat consignment at the government centre instead of transporting it to a flour mill irrespective of the permit issued for the purpose, Mr Leghari alleged that in almost all districts the administrations were threatening middlemen and transporters carrying consignments for flour mills contrary to the agreement reached with Punjab Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan...
