Walk on anaesthesia day at LUMHS Jamshoro.

HYDERABAD -- To mark the World Anaesthesia Day, Department of Anaesthesia, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro arranged a Seminar on 'Safe Anaesthesia-Safe Surgery' followed by Anaesthesia Awareness Walk on 16th October 2019 at LUMHS Jamshoro While addressing at the Inaugural Session the Vice Chancellor LUMHS Prof. Bikha Ram Devrajani expressed that people around the world annually celebrate World Anaesthesia Day on October 16 and commemorates the first successful public demonstration of surgical anaesthesia on October 16, 1846, actually it refers to everyone, because every patient benefits from painless surgical treatment. He added that there are more major surgeries than births worldwide, yet surgery is much more dangerous and has a much higher mortality rate.

The incidence of conditions requiring surgery is rising as a proportion of the total global burden of disease, and surgical intervention is expected to increase around the world. Surgical care and its safe delivery can potentially affect the lives of many millions of people worldwide. By defining a core set of minimum standards that can be applied universally across borders and settings, the 'Safe Anaesthesia-Safe Surgery' challenge hopes to create...
