Volunteers vow to discourage kite-flying.

RAWALPINDI -- Anti-Kite-Flying Volunteers Association and other stakeholders Saturday vowed to discourage the controversial sport of kite-flying and spread awareness about its potential hazards.

The Anti-Kite Flying Volunteers Association through a statement announced that their volunteers would launch an educational campaign in schools, colleges, universities, offices and public places to achieve their goal of a 'kite-free Pakistan'.

'Our aim is to discourage the youth from kite-flying and divert their attention toward healthier activities,' read the statement.

Association members including Yasir Farooq Usman, Babar Aurangzeb Chaudhry, Usman Feroz, Inam ul Haq and others urged stakeholders to join hands to curb the menace.

'Every year, precious human lives are lost while bird fowl and electrical infrastructures are affected by the harms of this sport,' they said.
