Villagers' protest against mining companies continues.

MITHI -- The mining firms tasked with extracting coal reserves at Block 1 of Thar coalfield near Islamkot are allegedly continuing to turn a blind eye towards ongoing protests by residents of villages, including Bhave-Jo-Tarr.

The protesters, mostly Kolhis from the village, who resumed their protest on Wednesday, alleged that they were forced to take shelter outside the Islamkot Press Club to draw attention of the high-ups of the Sindh government towards the attitude of the mining firms.

They said that they were finding it very difficult to move from their villages to other places due to barbed wire fences that had been placed by the officials of the mining firms. They said they had already been forced to shift their livestock to other areas after their paths and roads leading outside the village were dismantled by the heavy machinery.
