Village council secys seek service structure.

TIMERGARA -- The village council secretaries have demanded of the government to announce basic pay scale 14 and service structure for them in the upcoming budget.

The demand was made at a meeting of all secretaries village councils association at Balambat the other day with its Lower Dir president Salahuddin in the chair.

District vice president Mohammad Zeb, general secretary Nizamul Haq, deputy general secretary Murad Badshah, finance secretary Farmanullah and others were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Salahuddin said the village council secretaries had been performing duties along with health professionals, police and security forces' personnel to cope with the coronavirus pandemic. He said the secretaries were always vulnerable to Covid-19 infections as they had to register daily wagers, labourers and other deserving people for the government's coronavirus relief package, besides carrying out disinfectant sprays in mosques and creating awareness among people.

'The village council secretaries have been at the forefront during every national emergency, but their services have been neglected,' he deplored.

Mr Salahuddin said village council secretaries also performed duties during anti-polio and anti-dengue drives, elections and surveys.
