Vehicle-breaking road needs attention.

NAROWAL -- Zafarwal-Shakargarh Road is in a bad condition.

Recently, a loaded truck turned turtle when it hit potholes covered under mud. A few passersby escaped from being hit by the falling truck.

Local residents have protested the government's inaction. The 17-kilometre road connects Zafarwal and Shakargarh and is used by hundreds of vehicles every day. As the road has not been repaired for years, many accidents have taken place there due to wrecking potholes and bone breaking ditches.

A few months ago, a dumper overturned on a rickshaw carrying schoolchildren on the road, due to which eight students and the rickshaw driver died.

Residents Arshad Ali and Muhammad Ameen said they filed applications to the district administration, the local MPA, provincial minister Pir Syed Saeedul Hassan Shah and Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar seeking with the construction of road but in vain.

Another resident Kiran Fatima said: 'The government should learn a lesson from the accident which took place a few months ago and take steps to save people from accidents.'
