Two men held on charges of killing army officer.

KARACHI -- Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two suspects on charges of killing an army officer a few months ago on M.A. Jinnah Road.

Major Saqib Iqbal, 34, was martyred near the Sabri Nihari restaurant soon after he came out of an ATM booth of a private bank on the main road.

The police with the help of modern technology arrested the two suspects identified as Umer Farooq, alias Balo, and Noman, alias Maro, said DIG East Amir Farooqi.

They were detained in the limits of the SITE Superhighway Industrial Area police.

The Arambagh police in their FIR registered on June 6, 2019 had stated that the serving officer was martyred to spread terror in the city. Thus the police had registered an FIR under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code and 7-ATA (Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997).
