Two construction workers killed by falling debris.

KARACHI -- Two labourers died during construction work of a home in Nazimabad No. 1 on Thursday, upon which the police registered a manslaughter case against the owner and the contractor.

Rizvia Society police officer Yousuf said that two labourers were busy in digging work under a pillar of the house when it fell on them. Both the labourers, crushed under the debris of the pillar, died on the spot.

Their bodies were retrieved and taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

The victims were identified as Mohammed Asif, 18, and Hasnain Abbas.

The police officer added that the case had been registered against the owner and contractor over charges of manslaughter on the complaint of one of the deceased persons' family.

Woman dies in accident

A young woman died while her husband and three other persons were injured when a dumper truck overturned in North Nazimabad early on Thursday morning, said officials.

They added that the truck carrying marble pieces was coming from Kati Pahari, which went out of the driver's control due to overloading, while its brakes also failed.

The truck hit a motorbike and a rickshaw upon which they skidded and turned over leaving five persons injured.

The injured were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced 20-year-old Misra dead on arrival.

The injured identified as 28-year-old Abdul Hayee (Misra's husband), 20-year-old Kashif; 35-year-old Dilshad and 30-year-old Munir were admitted for treatment.
