Two boys drown in separate incidents.

KARACHI -- A boy drowned in a deep water pond and another in the sea, rescue and police officials said on Saturday.

Mir Hamza, 11, drowned in a pond in Hasan Brohi Goth within the Surjani Town police limits on Friday night.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said they received information about the drowning at 12.10am. Their divers tried to rescue the boy, but they faced difficulties as there was darkness in the area. Therefore, the search was again launched on Saturday morning and the boy's body was recovered and handed over to his family.

A police officer said that there used to be a hydrant in the past but when an operation was launched against 'illegal' hydrants, perhaps this pond was not fully covered.
