Turbulent Forecast.

The spillover of violence from Afghanistan continues as two soldiers embraced martyrdom in a clash that occurred after terrorists from Afghanistan opened fire on a military post in Bajaur district on Sunday. Pakistani Army troops responded in a befitting manner as they eliminated three terrorists, however the loss of security personnel is extremely unfortunate. The internal security situation is certainly of concern given the regularity with which attacks are taking place in the borderlands.

Officials have rightly condemned the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for activities against Pakistan and have made it clear that the existing and future setup in Afghanistan must clamp down on such militants. Meanwhile, Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has stated that it is up to Islamabad, and not Afghanistan, to address issues related to the TTP. Unless the essence of the statement being reported was lost in translation, remarks from the Taliban leadership will have to be more confidence inspiring, and their words will need to be backed up with concrete actions if the group is to earn credibility at a regional and international level.
