Tree plantation a must for new development projects in Sindh: Local Govt Minister.

KARACHI -- Sindh Minister for Local Government and Forests has said that tree plantation should be carried out on compulsory basis in all new and under-construction development projects of the provincial government. The provincial minister stated this while chairing a meeting of heads of different municipal agencies in Sindh. The executors of new development projects have to make provision for tree plantation as otherwise no permission would be granted to carry out such projects.

The Sindh Local Government Minister said that the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) would also ensure that there was ample provision for tree plantation in new building projects in Sindh.

Sindh Local Government Secretary Roshan Ali Shaikh said on the occasion that a plan had been prepared by the provincial Local Government Department to do plantation at 4,000 different spots in Sindh.

He said that implementation on the plan would start soon.

He said that certain portions of public parks in Sindh would be reserved so that prospective non-governmental organizations could carry out plantation campaigns there to uplift the status of these parks.
