TMA workers lock offices over salary non-payment.

LAKKI MARWAT -- The infuriated employees of Lakki Marwat tehsil municipal administration on Monday forcibly shut the offices of tehsil municipal officer and other officials of the civic body against the non-payment of salaries for last several months.

The employees marched on the Lakki-Darra Tang Road and reached the TMA building located along the Old Kutchery Road in the Lakki city.

Led by local government employees' federation's provincial president Haji Anwar Kamal Khan, the protesters chanted slogans against the municipal authorities.

Before closing offices of the municipal body, Mr Kamal told the tehsil municipal officer to arrange funds for payment of salaries and pensions by going to Peshawar and holding meetings with the government high-ups.

'The protesting employees will not allow the officers to sit in their offices until they are paid salaries and pensions,' he warned.

On the occasion, other employees' leaders said the municipal authorities were enjoying perks and privileges despite the fact the civic body was facing financial crunch. They said the financial crisis had only affected the low-ranking employees of TMA, adding to their troubles in Ramazan.
