'Tile manufacturers not getting benefits'.
KARACHI -- New players coming in special economic zones (SEZs) are getting 10 years tax benefit whereas existing one are not getting any despite going for expansions, CEO Shabbir Tiles and Ceramics Ltd (STCL) Masood Jaffery said on Friday.
Talking to newsmen during a visit to the STCL plant, he said the government should provide a level playing field to all tile manufacturers to increase competitiveness, create job opportunities, and bring in investment from new and existing players alike.
The local industry is competing with smuggled Iranian tiles which are hurting government's revenues, he said. 'The government should take serious measures in curbing smuggling from Iran,' he added.
