Three including couple killed, 11 injured in road accidents.

HARIPUR -- Three persons, including a couple, were killed and 11 others were injured in different road accidents in Haripur, Lakki Marwat and Mansehra districts, witnesses and rescue officials said on Saturday.

A man and his wife travelling in a car from Mansehra district to Haripur were killed when the vehicle plunged into a ravine near the Chechiyan Interchange of the Hazara Motorway on Friday evening. The man was identified as Toqir Awan. The deceased were residents of Sera-i-Nehmat Khan village.

A man was killed when a recklessly-driven dumper truck hit his car on the Haripur Bypass Road.

The victim was identified as Tariq Ayub Khan, 53, a lecturer of Urdu at the Government Postgraduate College of Management Sciences, Haripur. He left behind a widow and two minor children to mourn his death.

The deceased was also a singer and poet.

He was on way back home in Khalabat Township after performing at a musical programme in connection with a wedding ceremony in Kangra Colony when he met the accident.

He was laid to rest in the graveyard of Sector No 1 of the township. A large number of his students, admirers, teachers and local politicians attended his funeral prayers.

Meanwhile, eight people were injured when a passenger coach and a trailer truck collided near Baistkhel area of Lakki Marwat.
