THE fire on Tezgam has once again exposed the incompetence of the railway management. Why don't the railway authorities enforce the most basic safety measures like passengers should not carry flammable or dangerous substances on the train? No country would allow passengers to carry such hazardous material on public transport.

Pakistan's railway system is a legacy of the British era. Why is it that India, which also inherited the same train system, has improved their railways while our country has made a mess of it? The answer - to put it mildly - is maladministration...
