Swat DC orders officials to take anti-dengue steps.

MINGORA -- Deputy Commissioner Saqib Raza Asalm here on Tuesday directed all the relevant departments to take effective measures to prevent dengue virus transmission in the summer season in Swat.

He was chairing a meeting to devise effective plan against spread of dengue virus in the district. DHO Dr Mohammad Ikram Shah, ADC Hamid Khan, ACs from all the seven tehsils, TMAs, officials of public health, education, WSSC and dengue cell attended the meeting.

The deputy commissioner told the meeting that timely measure must be taken to eliminate the breeding clusters, growth and transmission of the dengue virus in those areas, which were prone to dengue virus.

He directed all the relevant departments to take proper and timely action against the spread of the dengue virus. 'Effective campaign should be launched in the markets, trye shops, block factories, service stations and in those residential areas where people store water. The clusters where mosquito larva is found must be traced and eliminated,' said Mr Aslam.

He said that an awareness campaign should also be launched regarding prevention of dengue fever for which proper radio programmes should be broadcasted on Pakhtunkhwa Radio FM98.
