Suspension bridge in Chitral on verge of collapse.

CHITRAL -- A suspension bridge over a stream in Barenis village is on verge of collapse as heavy traffic on Booni Road has damaged most of its wooden planks.

The bridge connects Upper Chitral district with Lower Chitral. It was built by the communication and works department in 1993 while the steel planks were replaced later with wooden ones.

Local people said the condition of the bridge worsened after Booni Road was federalised by the government last year and the National Highway Authority did not pay heed to the condition of the road and bridge though up to 1,500 vehicles passed through it daily.
