Suki Kanari project workers demonstrate to claim rights.

MANSEHRA -- Workers of the Suki Kanari hydropower project on Monday took to the streets to demand rights promised in the national and international labour laws.

The protesters, who had halted work on the project being executed on the Kunhar River in Kaghan valley for four days ago, marched on the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road for several hours.

They also blocked the 'Seven Bridge', which links the Kunhar River with the project site, for two hours.

The protesters held banners and placards and shouted slogans demanding the provision of labour rights.

'We will continue protest until our all demands are met. Despite signing an agreement, the construction company hasn't given us the basic rights promised in the national and international labour laws,' worker leader Azhar Hussain Shah told the rally.
