Strengthening of health facilities top priority: CM.

PESHAWAR -- Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has said that strengthening of health infrastructure is top priority of the government to enable the health system to effectively deal with the challenges posed by Covid-19 epidemic in the province.

In a statement here on Sunday, he said that in order to enable the existing health infrastructure to cope with the coronavirus pandemic, Rs124 billion was proposed for health sector in the annual budget of the upcoming financial year in addition to Rs24 billion fund for health emergencies.

The chief minister said that in order to enhance the capacities of the public sector tertiary care autonomous hospitals on emergency basis,Rs10 billion was allocated for the timely completion of the ongoing developmental schemes at those hospitals that was over and above the current allocation of Rs26 billion for those hospitals.

Mr Khan said that during the upcoming financial year, steps would be t aken to enhance the capacities of all the public sector hospitals including district headquarters and tehsil headquarters hospitals, rural health centres and basic health units at both in the settled and merged districts to fulfil their requirements of trained human resources, medical equipment, medicines and other...
