Steps taken to protect jail inmates from virus: DIG.

TAXILA -- The Rawalpindi Region Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Prisons Malik Shaukat Feroze said on Friday precautionary measures were being taken in prisons across Punjab to protect the prisoners from Covid-19.

He expressed these views during his surprise visit to district jail Attock on Friday.

Attock Jail Superintendant Sheikh Mohammad Ikram and DSP Malik Mustafa Ahmad were also present on the occasion.

DIG visited different barracks, met prisoners and reviewed the arrangements and facilities being provided to the prisoners and steps being taken to prevent spread of Coronavirus.

'Provision of all the facilities as per the jail manual must be provided to the prisoners and all must be safeguarded against the disease,' he said.

He directed the jail officers to ensure precautionary measures in jails as per directives of the Punjab Home Department to prevent spread of the virus among prisoners.
