Speakers call for research to preempt crimes in society.

PESHAWAR -- Speakers at a conference have called for greater cooperation between law enforcement agencies and academia in the field of investigations, research and criminal justice system to create a peaceful and crime-free society.

The three-day national conference entitled 'Contextualising Challenges in Criminology and Criminal Justice System in Pakistan' is being hosted by University of Peshawar.

According to a statement, around 50 researchers from 15 universities and different law enforcement agencies are attending the three-day conference and would share their research work on corruption, policing, parole, probation, human trafficking, corruption, cybercrimes, human smuggling, terrorism, extremism and money laundering.

Addressing the inaugural session of the conference Council of Islamic Ideology Chairman Dr Qibla Ayaz called upon the participants and academics to bring up timely research in advance for the preemption of crimes in society.

He stressed the need for case studies-based approach for mutual research collaboration between academia and law enforcement agencies for cementing forensic sciences. He said that CII played key role in solving Zainab murder case in Kasur, Punjab through timely intervention and close collaboration.
