Smart lockdown proves helpful in containing virus: Ajmal.

PESHAWAR -- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Ajmal Wazir said on Tuesday that more than 808,627 people were restricted to their homes in 278 areas across the province due to smart lockdown put in place to contain the spread of Covid-19.

Addressing a press conference here, he said that currently there were 2,895 Covid-19 patients in the 276 areas that were under smart lockdown all over the province. He said that 3,141 houses in those areas were isolated.

Mr Wazir said that movement restrictions were eased in 58 areas in the province after improvement in Covid-19 situation there and completion of the stipulated period.

He said that district administrations, health and relief departments were monitoring the areas under smart lockdown and the strategy proved useful to control spread of coronavirus.

Mr Wazir said that Covid-19 recovery rate was improved in the province and reached 48 per cent from 30 per cent during last week. He said that Chief Minister Mahmood Khan was working for the betterment of the province.

He said that special attention was given to health in the budget and for the first time a significant amount of Rs24 billion was allocated for Covid-19 emergency.
