Six of a family drown as car plunges into canal.

GUJRAT -- Six persons of a family, including four women and a minor, drowned after their car plunged into Upper Jhelum Canal (UJC) during rain and windstorm on Sara-i-Alamgir-Mandi Bahauddin Road late on Thursday.

Rescue 1122 officials say a car carrying six persons of a family was on its way to Khohaar village during heavy rain and windstorm, when 19-year-old Shahzaib, who was driving, could not control the vehicle and it plunged into the canal near Simbli bus stop.

A motorcyclist, who had witnessed the incident, informed the Rescue 1122 and locals about it. The Rescue teams started a search operation.
