Sindh to construct eight more jails.

KARACHI -- Sindh government decided to construct eight more prisons in the province, as the existing prisons are over-crowded where 17239 inmates are currently lodged against a total capacity of 13038. A high level meeting, cochaired by Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah and Federal Ombudsman Syed Tahir Shahbaz on Thursday reviewed the prevailing situation of prisons of the province. The meeting was informed that prisoners from other districts of province are lodged in existing jails, as many districts have no jails.
