Sindh Assembly pays rich tribute to Professor Waris Mir on his great services for democracy, HR, journalism and provincial autonomy.

KARACHI -- Sindh Assembly has paid rich tribute to prominent writer of Pakistan and teacher of journalism Professor Muhammad Waris Mir on his great services for democracy, human rights, journalism and provincial autonomy.

According to a unanimous resolution passed by the Sindh Assembly on Monday, the house while condemning the questions raised on the patriotism of Professor Waris Mir recently by some elements just on the basis of political differences, wants to reiterate that the tradition of declaring thinkers, writers and politicians as traitors has only harmed Pakistan and now this tradition should have come to an end.

The resolution says that the followers of the dictatorship also greatly annoyed Professor Waris Mir during his life because he through his writings highlighted revolutionary and progressive aspects of Islam against extremism. He was the pioneer of the rights of the women. Professor Waris Mir presented the idea of provincial autonomy to further strengthen the federation of Pakistan.

The resolution says that Professor Waris Mir fought the war of Kashmiri and Palestinian people at United Nations Human Rights Commission Geneva and other important forums. The resolution says that the books written by Professor Waris Mir 'Hurriyat e Fikar ke Mujahid'...
