HYDERABAD -- Sindh Abadgar Ittehad has severely criticized working of agriculture extension department of Sindh terming it not only of no use but disastrous for agriculture economy of province. Addressing news conference at press club Nawab Zubair Talpur president SAI said no official from agriculture department was ever seen at any field despite fact that department was having thousands of employees. He said crushing season of sugarcane has started s 1st October but agriculture department has taken no step practically neither date for crushing nor price of sugarcane which was worrisome for growers.

He said last year rate was fixed at Rs. 182 but sugar mill owners did not pay same rate. He said now the sugar was sold at Rs. 75 per kilo in market as such growers demand sugarcane price be fixed at Rs. 250 per 40 kilos.
