SHO, constable injured in firing by dacoits.

FAISALABAD -- Station House Officer (SHO) Lundianwala police station and a constable were injured by the firing of dacoits near Chak No. 642-GB. A police spokesman said on Sunday that SHO Khalid Mehmood, along with his team, while on routine patrolling late Saturday night, saw some dacoits busy looting people near Chak No.642-GB.

The police encircled the robbers and ordered them to surrender. However, they opened fire at the police team, injured SHO Khalid Mehmood and Constable (driver) Kamran, and fled the scene.

The injured SHO and constable were shifted to hospital while the police took a motorcycle into custody from the spot. The police also registered a case against five unidentified dacoits.

Man's body found

The body of a man was found at a deserted place in the area of Batala Colony police station. A police spokesman said on Sunday that some passersby spotted the body of a 30-year-old man lying at a deserted place near Warispur and informed the police. The police have shifted the body to mortuary for postmortem.

Man electrocuted to death

A young man died of electrocution, in the jurisdiction of Gulberg police station. Rescue-1122 sources said on Sunday that Rashid Ali, 37, was rectifying faults from electric wires in street No.6, Afghanabad when he accidentally received fatal electric shock. He died on the spot.
