Sherpao asks govt to provide relief to poor people.

LOWER DIR -- Qaumi Watan Party chief Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has demanded of the government to focus on providing relief to the poor.

He was talking to journalists after offering condolences on the death of senior politician Bakht Baidar Khan in Tarnao area here on Sunday.

He lauded the services of the deceased, who was the secretary general of QWP until May 2018, and said Mr Baidar had always served the poor segments of society.

Mr Sherpao said he had a 40-year association of the deceased, who never compromised on workers' politics. The QWP chief said the political services of the deceased would be remembered for a long time.

Mr Sherpao said the coalition government led by PML-N had no option but to increase the prices of petroleum products as the former Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government led by Imran Khan had taken the country to the brink of destruction. He said it was Imran Khan's government that had signed an agreement on hard conditions with the IMF.

Mr Sherpao criticised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for failing to initiate any mega project during its nine years rule. He said the government should adopt austerity measures to lessen burden on the poor.

Meanwhile, ministers, senators and political leaders also visited the residence of late Bakht Baidar Khan and offered Fateha for the departed soul.
