Sheikh Zayed head, director test positive for Covid-19.

RAHIM YAR KHAN -- Several doctors and other members of the principal's office at Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) were quarantined on Sunday after the principal and security director tested positive for Covid-19, while tracing of their contacts was under way.

Sources in SZMCH told this correspondent that the principal had also performed a surgery along with a few other doctors two days ago. He had also remained in contact with the finance director, some departmental heads, admin members and other personal staff.

Similarly, the security director was also in contact with eight security supervisors who visited his office daily.

District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Sakhawat Randhawa told Dawn that the SZMCH principal and security director were quarantined at their homes while samples of 68 people, including 20 doctors, had been sent for tests. He added that samples of the patient and all the doctors who performed the surgery would be collected on Monday (today).

BAHAWALNAGAR: Six new cases of coronavirus were detected here on Sunday.

Senior officials of the Bahawalnagar health department said five out of the six were police personnel who were probably infected while performing their duties at cash distribution facilities of Ehsaas programme and mosques. All of them were shifted to the isolation wards of DHQ hospital for treatment.
