SHC orders Sindh govt to build and facilitate old age homes.

KARACHI -- Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday directed Sindh government to build old age homes and provide facilities in them as per Senior Citizen Act 2014. A SHC bench was hearing a petition filed by a NGO against Sindh social welfare department and other respondents. The court ordered the social welfare department to implement law. The bench also asked Secretary Health to ensure availability of all medical facilities in old age homes. Sindh government was also directed to release funds for old age homes in every district.

The court ordered social welfare counsel to active all functions as per law and it also directed to held awareness seminars and workshops regarding the law. It also instructed that awareness should be given through media regarding the law. While arguing with secretary social welfare, the bench asked him that why law has not been implemented.
