Sharjeel says call centre to be set up to counter propaganda, fake news.

KARACHI -- Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Saturday announced that a call centre would be established at the provincial information department to counter fake news and propaganda against the provincial government.

He announced this while presiding over a meeting held to review the performance of the information department at his office.

The minister added that the call centre would provide timely and authentic information on the policies and initiatives of the provincial government and would also counter fake news and propaganda against the government.

'Imran playing with fire'

Speaking at a press conference, the information minister said that the provincial cabinet had taken a decision to extend relief to the people during Ramazan under which 135 makeshift markets had been set up in different cities across the province.

He said that 7.8 million families were being provided subsidy on purchase of flour, and Rs15.6 billion were being spent on it. He added that the process of disbursement would start within a week.
