Sharif family submits request for removal of Nawaz's name from ECL.

ISLAMABAD / LAHORE -- The Sharif family on Friday approached the Ministry of Interior seeking the removal of former premier Nawaz Sharif's name from the Exit Control List (ECL).

A request has been submitted to the interior secretary, requesting the removal of Nawaz's name from the list to pave way for the three-time prime minister to fly abroad for medical treatment.

According to sources, interior ministry has reached out to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over the matter. NAB chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal is holding consultations. Reportedly, Nawaz's name will be removed from ECL once NAB decides on the matter.

NAB sources told Express that the former premier will likely be given 'one-time' permission to go abroad - similar to how Shehbaz Sharif was given earlier this year.
