Senior lawyer robbed in Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD -- Senior lawyer Akram Sheikh was robbed in the capital on Saturday.

Police said that two armed men raided advocate Akram Sheikh's home in the Orchard Scheme area and stole cash and valuables.

They said Mr Sheikh, his son and the family of his domestic employee were held hostage for hours. The robbers stole Rs600,000 in cash, watches and other valuables and then fled.

The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday but the case was not registered until late in the evening. When contacted late evening, a police officer told Dawn the FIR was being written.

'At around 2:45am, my son and a servant woke me up and the robbers told me that we have held you, your security guards and kids as well,' Mr Sheikh said when contacted. The robbers told him they had taken his guards' firearms, four mobile phones including those of his son and domestic employee and disconnected his landline, he said.

He said they entered the house by cutting a grill in a bathroom. They held his son and employee at gunpoint, and then detained them in a room.
