Seminar held on world kidney day at LUMHS Jamshoro.

HYDERABAD -- To mark the World Kidney Day 2020, the department of Urology and Nephrology Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro arranged a Seminar at Liaquat University Hospital Hyderabad on 12th March 2020. While addressing the participants the Vice Chancellor LUMHS Prof. Bikha Ram Devrajani expressed that Kidney disease is a non communicable disease and currently affects around 850 million people worldwide. One in ten adults has chronic kidney disease. The global burden of renal disease is increasing, and is projected to become the 5th most common cause of years of life lost globally by 2040. Chronic Kidney Disease is a major cause of catastrophic health expenditure. The costs of dialysis and transplantation consume 2-3% of the annual healthcare budget in highincome countries.
