Seminar addresses challenges facing Sind's agriculture sector.

TANDOJAM -- "Hari Melo" and National Conference on 'Farmers' Access to Agriculture finance and Mango Production: Issues and Challenges' was held at the Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam which was organized by UBL in collaboration with the SAU and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). Experts presented their dissertations on the issues and challenges facing agriculture and farming sector during the technical session. The opening ceremony of the Hari Melo was held in the main auditorium hall of the university on Monday. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Fateh Marri, Vice Chancellor, Sindh Agriculture University, said that agriculture played a vital role in the economic development of the country and the private sector should invest in the Agriculture sector. He said that we must rely on pure seeds, healthy breeds of animals, agricultural value edition, value chain, and modern technology.

Dr. Marri said that 50% of the area of Sindh is arid and experts should prepare projects for producing organic crops, which can produce 100% organic vegetables and fruits.

Ikramullah Qadri, Senior Joint Director, SBP, said that they are actively promoting agriculture financing for farmers for agricultural development. In this regard, SBP has given instructions and policy to all banks. He said that SBP is offering 100 internships for SAU graduates in all banks and each bank should create 5 to 10 internship opportunities.
