Section 144 imposed in Khyber to check spread of dengue.

KHYBER -- The administration imposed Section 144 for one month with immediate effect on Monday to check the rapid spread of dengue virus in Khyber tribal district.

A notification issued from Khyber House said that Section 144 was imposed after a steady increase in dengue cases was reported from different parts of Khyber by the district health officer and dengue surveillance team in their daily reports.

It said that a one month ban had been imposed on all uncovered water storage containers including open water tanks at public places, godowns, educational institutions, tyre shops, plant nurseries, farms and other locations where water storage was necessary.

The notification said that other necessary preventive measures would also be taken to safeguard people from mosquito bites. It said that people would be provided with mosquito nets besides conducting anti-mosquito spray in the affected localities. Awareness sessions would also be held with local population.

Meanwhile, the district administration through another notification also imposed ban on use of motorcycle in some selected areas of Khyber to ensure safe and secure conduct of general census to be started today (Tuesday).
