Second increase in flour price in last few days.

LAHORE -- Flour price in the local market registered further increase as 20-kg bag of the commodity went up by Rs20 to Rs1,020 on Wednesday.

The flour price had earlier been scaled up by the millers by Rs25 per 20-kg bag two days ago, this Monday citing increasing trend in wheat rates.

As per the formula flour millers and food department had reached a couple of weeks ago the former would add Rs100 per 40-kg grinding charges to the rate of wheat in the open market to fix ex-mill price of flour.

As wheat rate is daily going up in the open market, the millers are increasing the flour prices accordingly. In some Lahore areas, however, people are complaining of even further hike in rates saying the commodity is in short supply in their localities.

Imran Yousaf, a consumer from Garden Town, claims that he had to purchase 20-kg flour bag at Rs1,050 after his attempts to locate the commodity at a couple of provisional stores remained abortive.
