SC can not change Article 226 of the Constitution: Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

ISLAMABAD -- Former prime minister and Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that Supreme Court of Pakistan can not change the Article 226 of the Constitution. He said that the SC should have to make decisions very wisely otherwise tomorrow every government will start changing the constitution through ordinance. He said that if senate vote will be held it will be secret and if system has to be changed then for this constitutional amendment is required, adding that nowhere in the world vote is open. He said that the current government caused Rs 150 billion loss to country while not purchasing LNG during the current winter season. He said that during the PML-N government's tenure per liter tax on petroleum products was Rs 15 but during the Pakistan Tehree-e-Insaf (PTI) government tax on per liter petroleum products has reached Rs. 40.

In an interview with a private TV channel, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that PTI government has purchased costly LNG from Qatar as compared to PML-N, adding that in past people of PTI were used to say Pakistan did not need LNG but it is good thing that they have realized today that LNG is need of Pakistan and it has to be purchased from Qatar. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that if he had purchased costly LNG then NAB should file another reference against him.
