Saqlain likely to join National High Performance Centre as coach.

LAHORE -- It appears that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is very much focused on hiring spinners as former Test off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq is likely to join the National High Performance Centre in Lahore as the coach of international players.

The 43-year-old Saqlain, who was interviewed by the PCB for the said job, has appeared as the most competent person, sources said.

The job has been created under the revamp programme of National Cricket Academy, which will now be called 'High Performance Centre'.

If hired, Saqlain, who introduced the famous 'doosra' delivery to world cricket, will become the third former spinner who will join the incumbent PCB set-up.

Ex-Test leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed is already working at the NCA while former left-arm Test spinner Nadeem Khan has also been appointed recently as director of the High Performance Centre.

Interestingly it seems that batting -- traditionally Pakistan's weakest area -- is presently not getting any worthwhile PCB attention, as no high-profile batting coach is currently operating at the NCA.
