_: There is exciting news for Pakistan in the international sporting events department-we are set to host the upcoming South Asian (Federation) Games. Prime Minister Imran Khan has given the go-ahead signal to the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and the Federal Sports Ministry to host the Games.

This is a good opportunity for Pakistan to exert soft-power and improve its international image. The SAOC comprises 7 member countries, namely Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The games, held every two years, have been previously hosted by Pakistan twice-once in 1989 and once in 2004.

What is different this time is that whereas Islamabad was the hosting city in the last games, this time Lahore is the main host-but the tournament will also host events beyond Lahore and Islamabad. The POA has suggested holding the Games in four different cities instead of just confining it to Islamabad-Sialkot, Faisalabad and Gujranwala are also planned to be included.
