Rs458bn spent on Karachi uplit this FY: Saeed Ghani.

KARACHI -- Sindh Information and Labour Minister has said that the Sindh government's total spending on the development of Karachi stands at Rs458 billion in the current fiscal year 2021-22 as in contrast the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has done nothing except making false promises to develop the provincial capital. Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, the Sindh Information and Labour Minister said that development works carried out by the PPP's Sindh government in Karachi in the last six to seven years had no match at all. He said the Federal Information Minister, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, was under obligation to inform the name of the development projects of the city, which had been included in Rs1100 billion development package for Karachi.

Ghani said it seemed that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah had been deliberately denied the opportunity to speak at the recently held ceremony to perform groundbreaking of Karachi Circular Railway project as the reason of paucity of time was merely used as an excuse for the purpose. Giving the breakdown of the Sindh government's spending on Karachi, he said that a sum of Rs 56.5 billion had been reserved for Karachi in the provincial Annual Development Programme for the current fiscal year. A sum of Rs 401 billion is being spent on Karachi through different development schemes under the mode of Public-Private Partnership and projects funded by the donor agencies. He said that Federal Information Minister had recently made the false claim that the Sindh government had not spent a single penny on the development of Karachi whereas the federal government had been spending Rs 1100 billion for the purpose. He said that a deliberate attempt was being made to mislead the masses as the centre had been falsely claiming the ownership of the development projects in Karachi funded by the provincial government. He said that PTI's inefficient and ineligible federal government hadn't spent a single penny on the development of Karachi as a large majority of its announcements for the development of the city had yet not been materialized.
