Rs200 million for sewerage scheme.

BAHAWALPUR -- The Punjab government have earmarked Rs200 million for the sewerage schemes of Ahmedpur East city. Commissioner Asif Iqbal Chaudhry said this at a meeting on Monday.

According to the commissioner, of Rs200 million, Rs90 million would be utilized in the current financial year.

The residents of Ahmedpur East city have faced sewage problem since the PTI government came to power last year.

The sewage due to chocked, old and leaked sewerage lines submerges most of the roads while an important junction of Pakistan chowk on Uch Sharif-Ahmedpur East road has been converted into a sewage puddle from where traffic can hardly pass.

On many occasions, government functionaries, including federal parliamentary secretary and MNA Kanwal Shozeb, in her visits to city, has assured the allocation of funds several times.

The commissioner directed the officials to utilize the funds judiciously for the purpose in accordance with the specification.
