Rs1b govt land retrieved from Khokhar brothers' 'illegal occupation.

LAHORE -- In a major operation carried out against the land grabbers in Johar Town neighborhood of the provincial metropolis, the district administration Sunday retrieved 38 kanals of precious land, demolishing structures and shops illegally erected around the Khokhar Palace owned by the Khokhar brothers.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Lahore and SSP Operations supervised the operation. The retrieved land was later handed over to the Punjab government. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister (SACM) Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the value of retrieved land was around one billion rupees. She said the operation was carried out to retrieve the occupied land from the illegal occupation of the PML-N lawmakers, MPA, Saiful Malook Khokhar and MNA Afzal Khokhar.

She alleged that the 'Royal family' in Punjab had been supporting the land mafia and 50 top PML-N leaders were involved in land grabbing. She said the action against land grabbers was initiated on directions of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. 'A merit-based operation is being carried out against land mafia without any political pressure,' she maintained.

Reacting over the development, the PML-N's vice-president Maryam Nawaz Sharif termed the Khokhar brothers a big asset for the party. 'They faced political victimisation but did not betray their leader Mian Nawaz Sharif,' she remarked in her tweet. Maryam alleged that there were two different laws in force under the PTI government. 'One law is meant for the powerful that gave protection to Bani Gala estate of the prime minister, and another one was for the political opponents and the houses of opposition were not safe from it. The oppression perishes when it exceeds its limits'. She said she saluted those who stood with their leader.
