Rs130 million park project in Kohat fails to take off.

KOHAT -- The Rs130 million project to construct Lake View Park at Tanda Dam here became casualty of non-perusal by the quarters concerned despite issuance of Rs30 million initial grant by the USAID, according to sources.

The residents here had been anxiously awaiting conversion of the site into a Lake View Park as announced by the previous PTI government, while the USAID visits continued till 2019. The tourism department officials also conducted surveys and paid a visit to the site.

In spite of orders by the government to communication and works department to start work on the project within one week in 2017 it could not be started for unknown reasons.

Executive engineer of the communication and works department, Zahid Ullah Khan, revealed that they had been asked to start work on the project, but it was later given to the tourism department. A standing committee was also constituted and officials of the tourism department and USAID visited the site.

GIRL DIES OF COVID-19: The 14-year-old Fatima, who was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia and hepatitis, later contracted Covid- 19 and died, according to family sources.

She was laid to rest in Spina Bungalow area of Shahpur amid strict precautionary measures. The police, army and health officials were also present on the occasion. About 15 relatives of the patient were allowed to attend the funeral and burial.
