KARACHI -- Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar said that in order to strengthen democracy we first need to make local bodies' stronger and seriously focus on problems of Karachi if we really want to bring improvement in economic conditions. He said this megacity is harmed by establishing six districts and three development bodies. Civic organizations should be made for resolving problems of citizens and not for political interests.

He expressed these views while speaking in a ceremony held in North Nazimabad for distribution of books among schools and libraries by DMC Central and Rotary Club on Saturday.
