Rs1.73bn needed to revamp Counter Terrorism Department.

PESHAWAR -- The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have sought Rs1.73 billion for revamping the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) across the province.

A statement issued here said that KP police chief Sanaullah Abbasi was informed during his visit to the CTD headquarters that of this Rs588 million would be spent on buying security and intelligence equipment, including jammer-fitted vehicles, GSM locators, thermal binoculars, aerial surveillance drones and communication tools, for use in the merged tribal districts.

Mr Abbasi was informed that steps had been taken for strengthening of CTD network and technology-driven policing.

The statement said that for this purpose equipment worth Rs150 million had been purchased which had played a pivotal role in promoting latest intelligence-based policing and combating terrorism in the area.
