Road project fund okayed.

Gujrat -- The Punjab government has finally allocated a sum of Rs272.8 million for the completion of approach roads connecting Gujrat and Sialkot at Shahbazpur bridge over the River Chenab.

The work on the project has been suspended for the last couple of years due to the paucity of funds as 90 per cent of the work on Rs 5.2 billion project had been completed.

The recent allocation of the amount for the completion of the project has been made by the Punjab government on the insistence of Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervez Elahi who had laid the foundation stone of the Shahbazpur bridge project as chief minister back in 2006-7.

However the PML N's Punjab govenrment had entirely changed the location and site plan of the project and re-launched it in 2015-16 by allocating a huge amount of Rs 5 billion.
