Remand of six kidney racketeers extended.

MULTAN -- A judicial magistrate on Friday extended the physical remand of six suspects in the custody of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in a case pertaining to illegal kidney transplant.

A joint team of the FIA and the Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority on Jan 6 arrested the suspects in a sting operation outside the Jinnah Hospital, Lahore on the complaint of Sikander, a resident of Vehari.

The complainant alleged that the suspects were working as a gang involved in illegal kidney transplant. He stated that the suspects involuntarily took his kidney in 2019. He informed the FIA that now the gang had called three donors Munir, Javed and Kabir, also from Vehari, to purchase their kidneys and the donors had been asked to come near the Jinnah Hospital, Lahore.

Soon the donors reached at the place and written agreements were signed between the parties and Rs20,000 was handed over to each donor as advance by an agent namely Zulfiqar, a resident of Vehari.
