Remand of policeman held in Saddar blast case extended.

KARACHI -- The administrative judge of the antiterrorism courts on Friday remanded in police custody three members of the outlawed Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA), including a policeman, in a case pertaining to an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in Saddar.

The Counter-Terrorism Department claimed to have arrested Dilbar Ali, said to be a police constable, Abdul Qayyum and Abdul Sattar over the blast on Daud Pota Road on May 12.

A passer-by was killed and several others wounded in the blast claimed by the banned SRA, which said a Pakistan Coast Guards vehicle was the target.

On Friday, the investigating officer produced the detained suspects before the administrative judge of the ATCs to seek their physical remand for interrogation.

The IO submitted that during a probe conducted by a joint investigation team (JIT), Ali, said to be posted in the police's Rapid Response Force, had allegedly acted as the main facilitator for the SRA in the blast.
