Rehabilitation of displaced Parachinar families demanded.

KOHAT -- The reforms committee of Parachinar has appealed to the government to provide funds for reconstruction of the houses and shops destroyed during militancy in 2007.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the committee's secretary general Attaullah Ghilji said the militancy had displaced 500 families, but they were not getting any assistance from the government to rehabilitate their houses and shops and educate their children.

He said the displaced families were wealthy before displacement, but now they were living in misery.

He said the government had failed to ensure security of the displaced families on their return to their home towns.

Mr Ghilji pointed out that a plan was made to build a township outside Parachinar to accommodate the displaced people, but that also fizzled out due to shortage of funds.

Condemning the bomb blast at an Imambargah in lower Kurram, he claimed that there were still elements which did not want peace in the country and fan sectarianism.

He said that Islam strictly forbid causing damage or destroying the worship places of any religion.
